New York Health Insurance
New York State offers multiple range of health plans and policies for the citizens to avail low-cost insurance coverage. The people of the state may apply for monetary assistance to assist in paying the coverage. Several health insurance programs are available from which the New Yorkers may choose.
Listed below are some of the major health insurance plans.
Medicaid
Medicaid is a program initiated by the New York State especially for those individuals who cannot afford to pay for medical care or coverage. The eligibility criteria to qualify for Medicaid is determined based on
Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) Rules and on certain factors, such as individual’s high medical bills, he/she receives Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and meets certain financial requirements.
Individuals who are
eligible to apply with New York State of Health Marketplace are pregnant women and infants; non-pregnant adults within age group 19 to 64 who are not qualified for Medicare; children within the age group of 1 to18; and parents or any relatives who are taking care of them.
Individuals who are
eligible to apply with Local Department of Social Services (LDSS) are-
- Individuals in receipt of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
- Foster Care youth
- Individuals in receipt of Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI)
- Long term care (CBLTC) services
- Individuals between age group 65 and older who do not represent as parents or relatives
- Medicaid Buy-In for Working People with Disabilities enrollees (MBI-WPD)
- Individuals whose eligibility is based on being blind or disabled or who request coverage for community based
- Medicare Savings Program (MSP)
- Residents of adult homes and nursing homes
- Former Foster Care youth
- Presumptive Eligibility (PE) for Pregnant Women.

New York Health Statistics and Vital Records
The New York State’s division of health statistics oversees and manages the collection, and distribution of public health and vital statistics data. The division works concurrently with state agencies, local agencies, and other agencies to provide technical assistance to users to procure the vital records, sort and solve problems and upgrade to meet the emerging health trends.
Vital Records
The Office of Vital Records maintains a uniform system of registration and manages all appropriate copies of vital records, including birth, death, still birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce certificates, fetal death and all related events registered and occurred in New York State.
New York City birth certificates cannot be filed or issued by the New
York State Department of Health. The certificates can be obtained
through the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

All qualified applicants will be provided with the certified copies based on the following criteria-
- Birth and Death certificates for births and deaths that occurred in New York State outside of New York City (1881-present)
- Dissolution of marriage certificates for the entire New York State (1963-present)

Birth Certificates of a person born in New York State outside the New York City may be obtained by the follwing eligible person-
- Individual whose name is mentioned on the birth certificate
- Spouse
- The concerned individual's parent named on the birth certificate
- Child
- Individual who has been granted legal permission by New York State Court.
Death Certificates of a person born in New York State outside the New York City may be obtained by the follwing-
- Deceased person's spouse
- Deceased person's child or sibling
- Deceased person's parent
- Designated person with documented medical need, documented lawful right or claim, and Order by New York State Court.
Marriage Certificates of a person born in New York State outside the New York City may be obtained by the spouses, designated persons who possess documented judicial or other proper purpose and Order by New York State Court.
Divorce Certificates of a person born in New York State outside the New York City may be obtained by the spouse or designated person with a New York State Court Order.
